Born Justice Ekaette Francesca Fabian-Obot, on January 17, 1963, in Lagos State, Justice Ekaette Obot hails from Nnung Oku Ekanem in Onna Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
Justice Obot was sworn in on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at the Excos Chamber, Government House, Uyo.
The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Udom Emmanuel has sworn in Justice Ekaette Obot as the Acting Chief Judge of the State.
Governor Emmanuel who commended Justice Obot for a good record stated that her selection was strictly on merit.
His words: “Let me congratulate the newly sworn-in acting Chief Judge, don’t ask how the selection process came, she has served the state so well.
“It’s a good thing and I don’t have any doubt that she will do so well, you know women are really struggling and should be given a chance in society.
“I read during COVID-19 how women who were in charge handled the pandemic so nicely, I want to believe that the judiciary will fare more efficiently”, Governor Emmanuel said.
The Governor charged the Judiciary Service Commission to fast track and prepare for Justice Ekaette Obot’s confirmation as the substantive Chief Judge of Akwa Ibom State.
Justice Obot is the 3rd female head of the state judiciary and 8th Chief Judge of Akwa Ibom State. She took over from retired Justice Godwin Abraham.
