Otunba Adebayo Kassim, a socialite from Lagos who ran the well-known fast food restaurant Kas Chicken in the 1990s, has passed away.
By coincidence, his passing came a few weeks after that of Dotun Olaribigbe, better known by his stage name Lobito, a well-known socialite and music promoter from Lagos.
On July 28, 2022, the day that Lobito was laid to rest, Kassim passed away. He was buried right away in accordance with Islamic customs.
Adebayo Kassim had already authored a eulogy for Lobito, who was interred at the Ebony Vaults & Gardens in Ikoyi, Lagos.
“Good night, general,” he wrote, “wait for me at the gate of heaven, see you on the other side, your buddy and brother forever. We have been friends for nearly 45 years and there isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t communicate.”
He was also close friends with Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, the leader of the All Progressives Party (APC) and Speaker of the House of Representatives.
According to media mogul Bashorun Dele Momodu, the socialite made a significant contribution to his pal Lobito’s funeral.
Ade Kassim entered politics in his 60s and ran for chairman of the Surulere Local Government in the beginning of 2000.
He and his sisters Folake and Shade took over the management of their late father’s famed restaurant, Kas Chicken, which had locations in Surulere and Allen Avenue in Lagos.
